about

Meredith's latest song "Come Through," is about trying find connection and communicate, when someone can't communicate with you.

Although the pensive track was prompted by personal events that transpired well before Covid-19 turned the world on its head, the narrative in “Come Through” is uncannily relevant in these troubling times; while technology allows us to stay in touch with friends, family and colleagues, physical isolation has created unfamiliar and unsettling feelings of disconnectedness. How do we traverse these strange new barriers? How do we cope with and adapt to this unexpected reality? These are questions we all find ourselves asking now, and that Meyer asked herself while writing “Come Through”. The answers are different for everyone, but the sweeping, meditative composition of the song leaves plenty of room for pondering.

Meredith Meyer’s long-stretching career began when the Oklahoma City native ran away from home as a teen. Her love for music developed through attending punk shows and throwing raves. She later resettled in Los Angeles became a frontwoman around the LA scene in a number of local bands. Meyer eventually moved to New York City in 2010 and formed her former seraphic indie four-piece, Young Unknowns, and in 2016, she and Brandon White began creating music under the name Easy Dreams.

While still collaborating with White in 2020, Meyer has been primarily focused on her solo work the past year. This shift was partly sparked by several major life transitions, including a move back to the West Coast in 2019, but she cites her work in teaching music to people with disabilities as the main initial catalyst for exploring music with a more inward-looking, ambient aesthetic.
Her introverted, experimental compositions enchant and connect with listeners on a profoundly personal level. (These are songs designed for thoughtful listening, ideally with headphones, undoubtedly a welcome format as many of us find ourselves confined to our homes for the time being).
